Strange One
Strange Ones are a race of humans on ../PlaneOfExis with distant ancestry tracing back to another lost humanoid race. Many Strange Ones may share a trait or two with another of their kind, but due to diversity and the generally unorganized nature of Strange Ones, it is unknown whether or not any two individuals may share a common ancestor, or even stem from the same humanoid race, despite appearances. The differences between pureblood humans and Strange Ones is slight but generally identifiable after a short period of interaction.
A number of commonly identifiable Strange One traits include:
- Pointed ears
- Odd smells (a common pureblood fairy tale warns children of legions of Strange Ones smelling of sulfur, nevertheless, more benign smells, such as bodies of water, are far more common)
- An inherited shortness or tallness
- Peculiar mannerisms of speech, hygiene, and so on
Strange Ones tend to feel as if they are outcasts in pureblood society, and many stray from large civilized areas, instead taking mundane lives in smaller villages or joining with others of their kind in Strange One settlements. Strange Ones are not commonly persecuted or actively excluded from pureblood life, but most can tell stories of a family member or acquaintance being subject to threats — or worse — of violence. This racism is rarely regarded or even talked of by purebloods. The ../WorendEmpire ignores such claims outside of ../CityOfRodrothdar, and inside the capital city victims are only given lip service and empty promises of investigation.
