Sepulture
Sepulture, the plane of the dead, is the plane where deceased sentient creatures from the ../PlaneOfExis spend the remaining infinity of their existence. The only longstanding point of civilization is the plane's de facto capital, the ../CityOfTheDead.
Sepulture is the great infinite home of Exis residents who have died and passed on. All living creatures with an intelligence immediately find their spirit drawn to Sepulture, while what remains of their physical bodies remains on Exis.
Properties of Sepulture
The plane itself is physical, and visitors to the plane can interact with it. The dead, as part of their transference to Sepulture, have the ability to alter the plane as if they were physically interacting with it, although they themselves are permanently incorporeal (they act as if they were on the Ethereal Plane and manifesting into the Material Plane while they are on Sepulture). This property allows the living and the dead to nominally interact — they may both manipulate some object from the plane, but they themselves cannot interact personally.
One additional exceptional property of the plane is the effect it has on mortal visitors. Those who are not mindful of the extent of their visit find their health threatened by accelerated aging that is resident across all of Sepulture. Only those mortals destined to maintain the City of the Dead — ../True20Customization#Deadwalkers — find themselves immune to the plane's aging effects.
Geography
The plane is a ghost-like alternate form of Exis. While natural terrain on Exis is generally represented on Sepulture, all living things are not, or are in states more befitting the plane. A lush forest on Exis may be a barren wood on Sepulture, made entirely of dead trees having long ago lost their foliage. Inland lakes may have dried up, and rivers may be nothing more than tepid water. Furthermore, civilized structures found standing on Exis are at best desolate ruins on Sepulture (with the exception of the City of the Dead).
To date, no features existing solely on Sepulture have been found, although many believe some would exist, possibly leading to other planes, or perhaps even the fell ../PocketsOfDoommarch.
Civilization
The majority of the plane's inhabitants tend to rest in Sepulture's one standing civilized area — the City of the Dead. Not needing sustenance, shelter, or other mundane necessities experienced on Exis, the inhabitants are free to persue their own interests and desires for all eternity. Many researchers continue their studies, hoping to eventually discover the secrets they seek. Others, be it out of love of solitude or clinging to what little semblance there is of a wilderness, choose to wander the lonely wastes of Sepulture. Fallen rangers have been known to seek out their former animal companions and again wander the land, as they had on Exis.
