Exis

Exis is the primary material plane and natural world of the SepultureCampaignSetting. Exis is also the name of the only continent known to human civilization, which, due to a lack of organized exploration is considered to be a supercontinent with no known borders.

Geography

The known world of Exis is roughly 1600 miles circle, centered at the ../CityOfRodrothdar, capital of the Worend Empire. The majority of the terrain is temperate, unworked plains and deciduous forest, with other geographical features scattered about.

Regions and Roads

Travel

Travel throughout Exis is concentrated along its three major roads, Meshandamil's Path, Water's Way, and the Gold Road. All of the main roads have branches that stretch further into the wilderness, but they are only commonly used for local travel, even if they would appear to be a more direct route than taking the major roads. Additionally, these smaller roads are patrolled less frequently, and the majority of Exis is not served by any track, either frequented gravel road or well-worn field path.

It is possible to travel to any of the other known planes from Exis; for more information, see ../ThePlanes.

Calendar

A year on Exis consists of four hundred days, each with twenty four hours. The year is broken into a number of months, which vary depending on the calendar used.

Mor's calendar

Named after its designer, Mor's calendar is the standard calendar used by commonfolk in Exis, and was until recently the only calendar in use. Mor's calendar contains nine months, each of which is forty days, or four tendays. Every group of three months represents a season, with the four remaining tendays interspursed. The "extra" tendays are generally considered massive holidays, with the middle two days commonly celebrated with large feasts, fairs, and public gatherings.

Mor's Calendar

The Turn — First Holiday

The Turn is the generally the coldest time of the year and represents the coming thaw, the turn in farmers' fortune and dawn of a new year.

Spring — Three Months

Welcoming — Second Holiday

Welcoming is a time of anticipation as summer begins, and is generally the most celebrated of the holidays.

Early Summer — Six Tendays

Full Day's Week — Third Holiday

This holiday is at the height of summer and commonly used as a marker of various personal goals and achievements for the past half year.

Late Summer — Six Tendays

Passing — Fourth Holiday

The end of summer is mourned as the people prepare for colder weather and the final days of good harvest.

Autumn — Three Months

Imperial calendar

The Imperial calendar does away with seasons and "extra" tendays as holidays, and instead consists of sixteen months of twenty five days each, each month named after one of the first sixteen rulers of the Worend Empire. Holidays occur on various days throughout the year, and are always proclaimed by royal decree. The Imperial calendar is a recent construction, developed to celebrate the continued stable rule of the Empire. However, it has seen little use outside of the Empire, and is even considered negatively by some as a sign of rampant nationalism.
