Sepulture

Sepulture is a True20System campaign setting designed by BrianStephan, which he has classified as medieval fantasy, with slight horror elements. Work first began on the campaign setting after Gen Con 2006, with ShardsOfJade being a campaign run within the setting.

Sepulture is set in the world of /PlaneOfExis, a plane stretching out to unknown distances and dominated by its relationship with /PlaneOfSepulture, the home plane of the next state of existence past death, and inexplicable demiplanes whose arrival is known as the /PocketsOfDoommarch.

Life and death

The transition to death

When an intelligent creature native to Exis dies, its soul immediately transfers to the plane of Sepulture (if they are not on the plane), or is lost in limbo for a period of time before returning to the /CityOfTheDead (if they are already on Sepulture). In less than an hour, this transition is permanent, and the creature gains the /DeceasedTemplateTrue20. The creature also loses one point from their lowest mental ability score.

Natives of Sepulture immediately die when they reach the "dying" condition on the Damage Track.

Planar Relationships

Between the linked nature of Exis and Sepulture, and their corruption as caused by the Doommarch, the planar arrangement on Exis is a critical element of Sepulture. Despite the importance of the aforementioned planes, they all remain fairly unexplored (especially the Doommarch, which is rarely entered), and additional planes are only assumed to exist.

System Customization

Due to the open and flexible nature of the True20 system (in part because of its deriving from the D20System), there are a number of house rules, additional feats, expanded powers, campaign-unique backgrounds, and other variations on the core rulebook, True20 Adventure Roleplaying. Most of these changes have either been to bring in favorite elements from other d20 System games (especially Dungeons & Dragons and Iron Heroes) and to give the Sepulture campaign unique flavor.
